So.
If you look at my gallery, you may notice that I have a lot of posts labeled "FFIII unused Text Shenanigans".
Yeah, don't look at those.
Those were made when I was younger, before DeepL entered my life and made 93% of text translations convenient for me. So a lot of the information in those posts may or may not be incorrect or bootleg-tier translation.
So, why don't I just go back and edit them?
That kinda ties into another thing.
I used to make quick and easy changes and the like thanks to D.A.'s Sta.sh Writer. However, Eclipse doesn't allow edits of early submissions. That leaves editing from the submit page, which is wonky and not worth it.
So, what now?
When I initially started this post, I was just going to point you to my Tumblr page where I talk about it.
Now, however, there are other possibilities:
-I've made a pastebin, where I'm putting the dialogue along with DeepL translations. So... basically what I used to do here, but with a more reliable translator. As of this writing, it is up to Castle Saronia.
- For those who prefer cliffnotes versions, I have a thread on Twitter where I have summaries of some of the scenes in Moments. The order is more sporadic and it's more of a play-by-play of the text compared to the Pastebin stuff, but it's still an option
But overall yeah. I may go back and delete those earlier texts, but for now, please don't read them. There is far better stuff now.
Aside from that, I'll try to upload to here a bit more.
Luneth has sea (air?) sickness and basically gets sick every time the party is on a airship (For example: At one point Ingus asks him if he truly feels comfortable about the Enterprise and when he claims he is, Arc quietly mutters that Luneth doesn't like losing so much that he's pretty much lying). This character tic was cut down to approximately one mention in the final game, which may not even be referring to that (“I don't know about that... I don't have very fond memories of my last airship ride...”).
Each Dungeon was supposed to have the party comment on it. Each summon dungeon would've had another cut-scene after the boss was defeated.
Castle Hein was going to be heavily changed. I'll go into it more another time.
Luneth and Ingus would've had to conversations at the end of Castle Hein/Castle Argus and during the Cave of Shadows, the first about Luneth's character development (Again, I'll go into it another time), the second of any possible memories they have of before the Floating Continent. Ingus vaguely recognizes the mountain the cavern is in and Luneth remembers flying on an airship.
Also, Ingus vaguely remembers Falgbard and the party theorizes that he was actually born there (during the four years before he ended up at Castle Sassoon)
Arc doesn't feel comfortable stealing taking from Saronia Castle's basement, in spite of the others mentioning his friendship with Alus.
Luneth and Arc seemed to believe there was a princess at the end of the underground cavern. Refia seemed to be the only to realize it would more likely be a witch (Unei). Ingus just sounded confused.
Also, nobody in the party apparently knows how to play a lute (though Refia is excited to try)
Refia expressed interest for being the scholar for the Hein boss fight.
Saronia had an entire scrapped plotline, with Arc getting annoyed at how Refia and Ingus are treating him and leaving to help Alus on his own. I'll be covering this later too.
Each of the surface world job towns had a cutscene about the town's respective job. Additionally, the Bard class would've been found in Duster rather than the crystal (an old woman would've given it to Refia).
And more that I haven't time to mention right now.
You can read the dungeon parts (as well as a few World Map skits) here. (Provided you speak Japanese). The town text and whatever else, on the other hand, I'll be releasing periodically with whatever translations various online translators spat at me.
